Season: November to April (every Monday)
Starting / Ending city: San Carlos de Bariloche
Itinerary: duration 2
days
Day 1:
This
is a beautiful trek which lasts 2 days. We leave the hotels
at 8:30 and head south on route 258. When we reach
km 36 we turn off towards “Pampa Linda” and drive for
another 50 Kms. Once we arrive to “Pampa Linda” we put our
packs on and begin our trek along some of the most breathtaking
trails we have in our region. Our trek starts at noon
along a gravel road, after walking a few Kms. , we cross
a stream “Castaño Overo” (great place for lunch). After
lunch we take a left along the trail which takes us towards
“Paso de las Nubes” ( if we head right on the trail we
reach Otto Meiling Mountain refuge on Mount Tronador) We keep
walking along the wide trail with the “Castaño Overo” glacier
to our side, descending to the “Alerce” river which we
border along the right. Later on we cross a stream that
comes from Lake “Alerce” and ends in a marshland, where
the trail disappears. From this point we have incredible
views of the Alerce waterfall, Mounts “Del Viento, Mar
de Piedra, and Constitución”. After crossing the marsh we
step into “Ñires and Coihues” forest, where we begin
our ascent towards “Paso de las Nubes” along our previously
lost trail. Continuing our trek along this trail we reach
our campsite.
