Ecotourism flora and ecosystems

Between West and East Nahuel Huapi National Park.
With
this trip you will have the opportunity to visit 7 different
ecosystems from the arid steep at the east to the valdivian
jungle forest at the far west of the Park and all the
in between forests and vegetation. This program is suitable
for anyone no previous training is necessary.

days
Day 1: Sunday
Welcome and transfer in special passenger transport. Tour
around the Municipal Llao-Llao Park, a so-called intangible
area that protects the evergreen coihue (Nothofagus
dombeyi) forest. Hiking through internal trails of coihues
and colihue cane (Chusquea couleou). Driving
back to Bariloche city for overnight stay.
Day 2: Monday.
Excursion
begins in the city of San Carlos de Bariloche, from where
you are taken to Puerto Paņuelo port, to board a large
catamaran that will sail along the Nahuel Huapi lake to
Puerto Blest port. This is also an intangible area of
breathtaking beauty, located west of our Park. There you can
appreciate and learn about the remarkable typical flora, known
as Andean Valdivian Forest, where you will find coihues
(Nothofagus dombeyi), maņiú hembra (Saxegothaea
conspicua), laurel (Laureliopsis philippiana)
and palo santo (Dasyphyllum diacanthoides),
among other species. Returning to Bariloche at sunset, for
overnight stay.
Day 3: Tuesday.
Free day for optional activities.
Day 4: Wednesday.
You travel east, through the "Reserva Nacional Nahuel Huapi"
(Nahuel Huapi National Reserve), where a small area of the
Subandean District of the Patagonian Steppe is being
preserved. You travel through a variety of different natural
settings like: valleys, rock promontories, water streams
or mountainous regions. Overnight stay in Bariloche
Day 5: Thursday.
From
San Carlos de Bariloche you go to the Chall-Huaco valley,
in the Nahuel Huapi National Reserve, where you learn
about the forests of lenga trees, a low deciduous beech
(Nothofagus pumilio), and the lenga brushwoods near
the tree line. There are interpretative trails inside the
forest and the high-Andean environment, where typical
flora occurring on the north and west mountain faces can be
studied. On this occasion we stay overnight at the "Refugio
Neumeyer".
Day 6: Friday.
You
will ascend mount Chall-Huaco to study high-Andean flora
and the typical communities growing on the east mountain faces
and on the mountain tops. At sunset you will return to San
Carlos de Bariloche for an overnight stay.
Day 7: Saturday.
Transfer to departure point.
Included services: transfer
IN/OUT, 5 lodging in hotel, 1 night lodging in mountain hut,
mountain guides for 6 days, 6 breakfasts, all the trasport
transfers during the trip.
Not Included: beverages,
meals, medical or travel insurance, extras, tips.
Safety notice:
Medical assistance is NOT included. However, trekking
guides do carry basic first aid kit and VHF communication
equipment in case any emergency situation arises. Health certificate,
issued by a physician who certifies physical fitness is strongly
recommended, especially for those with sedentary habits.
